Travel Talks in February

Upcoming travel talks at the Douglas Community Centre: February 6th, Building a School in Haiti, February 20th, From Rome to Canterbury: 1900 km on foot and February 27th, Newfoundland Scenery. Talks are at 7h30 pm. Most travel talks will be in French. Everyone is welcome! Voluntary contribution.

Board Game Evening

On Thursday February 8, at 7 p.m at the Douglas Community Centre, get together for a board game evening. Come alone or bring a friend, and your favorite games. A voluntary contribution would be appreciated. 2$ grille-cheeses will be sold. Have a fun evening!

Happy Hour    special: collective cooking

On Friday February 16th at 5 p.m., the Douglas Community Centres’ Happy Hour is a great opportunity to get together with old friends or make new ones. Please join us to learn about the upcoming plans for collective cooking activities at the community center. Bring your refreshments and a dish to share.

Community Breakfast

On Sunday February 18th, at the Douglas Community Centre, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., we welcome everyone to our monthly breakfast. Join friends and neighbors for an excellent breakfast with a traditional menu. $8 for adults (12 & over), $4 for children (5-11 years) would be appreciated (ages 4 and under, free)

Garden Seed Exchange

On Saturday February 24th, from 1 pm – 3 pm at the Douglas Community Centre, bring your plant seeds of any kind to exchange with gardening enthusiasts in your community. Whether you have extra seeds of any plant variety, or some exotic varieties to share, this garden seed exchange is an ideal opportunity for you to vary your harvest and perhaps learn a few gardening tips!

Mini-soccer

There will be soccer practices for youth in the Douglas Community Centre gym! Practices begin the week of march 12th for 10 weeks. It will be 15$ per child for the session. Please register before march 2nd by phone at 418-368-0288 or email at centre.douglas@douglastown.net. The schedule is as follows: Monday 4 pm to 5 pm for ages 10-11, Tuesday 4 pm to 5 pm for ages 8-9 and Thursdays 4 pm to 5 pm for ages 5-7. If your interested in coaching, contact us!

Office Rental

There is office space available for rent at the Douglas Community Centre. If you are looking for a space to set up an office, you can contact Marilyn Lacroix, coordinator at 418-368-0288 for more information. We also welcome any project or activity idea you may have! If you would like a space to hold an activity, please contact us as well.

Volunteers Wanted

We are looking for creative cooks for a weekly community soup that will happen at the Douglas Community Centre. If you are interested in volunteering you can give us your name by e-mailing centre.douglas@douglastown.net, by phone at 418-368-0288 or in person at the Community center.
