Community Breakfast

On Sunday July 24th from 8 to 10:30 we will be having our community breakfast, traditional menu! Voluntary contribution of $7 for adults (12 & over) and $4 for children 5-11 years would be appreciated. 4 and under, free. Everyone is welcome!

Douglastown audio tour project

Fantastic News! The Douglas Community Centre recently received Canadian Heritage funding to develop an audio tour that will share Douglastown’s stories through a smartphone app. What local Douglastown stories do people need to know about? What would you like your children or grandchildren to know about Douglastown?On Sunday, July 24, at 10 a.m., please join us in the living room of the Community Centre for our first open meeting to learn all about the project and share your ideas for stories and topics. This meeting will run for about an hour during the monthly community breakfast. Feel free to come early to eat and then join us in the next room for a lively discussion. Or just come for the discussion. This event is free and open to all! See you there.

Let’s Paint with Linda Drody, artist

On Wednesday August 3rd from 6 to 9 p.m., join artist, Linda Drody at the Douglas Community Center for an Irish themed edition of Let’s Paint. You will be guided step by step to produce your own painting. Canvas, paints and brushes provided…all you do is show up and create your very own masterpiece!!! 50$ per participant. Douglastown Irish Days ~ August 4th to 7th ~

The Community centre and the Irish Days committee invite you to join us for Irish Days from August 4 to 7. Douglastown Irish Days offer musical workshops, shows and kitchen party/jams to celebrate the Irish roots of the Douglastown community.  If you would like to register for a workshop or if you wish to volunteer (ex. evening shows – bar or entrance-, family activity day, picnic or open stage, auction 45 tournament set-up, etc.) please call 418-368-0288.

The programme for Douglastown Irish Days 2016 will be delivered on Wednesday July 20th in your Publi-sac. You can also pick up a copy at the Community Center. The program is also available at: www.douglastownirishweek.org or www.douglastown.net.
